Jackie Boy's Crew - Captain: Thomas Casal

Thank you for supporting our team and Alexander's Angels work on behalf of the Down syndrome community (Since 2007).

On June 14, 2018 God blessed our family with a beautiful baby boy, Jackson Thomas Casal. When we first heard his cry a feeling of joy overcame us. Then when the nurse first handed him over to us we fell in love immediately. Just a few moments later our doctor came over to us to inform us that Jackson showed signs of Down Syndrome. A tremendous feeling of disbelief quickly came over us as this was something we weren't expecting. As moments went by it mattered less and less as this was our boy and we were going to love him no matter what. Having an extra chromosome wasn't going to make anyone love him any less and was not going to define who this beautiful boy will be. His sister quickly fell in love with him and adores him everyday. He is a strong boy that loves snuggling with his mommy, daddy, and sister. He loves bouncing on daddy's leg, listening to momma sing, and brings joy and happiness to our entire family. There have been times where we've been scared but with the tremendous support and love from our family and friends we know Jackson will be able to accomplish anything he sets out to.

We ask that you please consider making a donation to our team, "Jackie Boy's Crew" in support of Alexander's Angels - an all-volunteer based organization with the goal to promote recognition of the often overlooked attributes of individuals with Down syndrome by highlighting their abilities.

Alexander's Angels aims to raise awareness outside the Down syndrome community by continuing working with local colleges, corporations, the community at large, and with Down syndrome organizations in a collaborative effort to promote a better understanding of people with Down syndrome by presenting the person with Down syndrome for what he/she is, a person with feelings and abilities much like anyone else.  To that end Alexander's Angels aims to organize events that showcase to the community-at-large special talents within the Down syndrome community.

About the Buddy Walk

The Buddy Walk® was created by the National Down Syndrome Society in 1995 to celebrate Down Syndrome Awareness Month in October and to promote acceptance and inclusion of people with Down syndrome.  The Buddy Walk® has grown from 17 walks in 1995 to over 250 each year with at least one in every state across the country and many abroad.  The Buddy Walk program is supported nationally by NDSS and organized at the local level by parent support groups and other organizations, schools, and motivated individuals.

Alexander's Angels has been the organizer of the Buddy Walk® on Long Island since its inception in 2007.  In addition to sustaining the corporation, funds raised by Alexander's Angels benefit local programs and services, Down syndrome cognitive research, as well as local and national advocacy and awareness initiatives that benefit all individuals with Down syndrome.
